I have my own courses twice a year at Knuston Hall, near Wellingborough where I cover one or more days for beginners and usually a weekend for landscape artists in CP. The College is residential but has limited single bedroom accommodation so early booking is recommended.
Non residents who can travel easily to South Northants as Day Students are welcome.
March 10th 2017 (Coloured Pencils Basics) day ……and evening March 10th through to Sunday March 12 (‘Landscape’ Weekend)
A Similar programme to those seen in the past
The only difference is that we work on a different picture each time, but there is the usual opportunity for you to bring along something you have started for the weekend sessions. We cover everything necessary to bring new artists up to speed and re-vitalise previous students. I have a vast collection of photographic references and many step by step notes for tutorial pictures so most students can be accommodated with a suitable picture subject.
As always, it is best to book early for residential accommodation at Knuston Hall if a single room is required, as single rooms are booked up quickly by visitors on the wide range of adult arts and crafts courses Knuston run.
If you wish to attend as a resident and there are no rooms available, there are a number of possible alternatives - such as staying at a Premier Inn type of hotel in the area and coming in daily. Knuston Hall can quote you for the course and possibly suggest places to stay
Contact the Office at 01604 362200 for details.
We get a high level of repeat bookings on these courses but will always welcome new faces, From the course run in March 2016, a number of students have already booked forward for March and September next year

DETAILS OF PENCIL TOPICS COURSES
A LISTING IS PROVIDED ON THE Step by step section which should include all the Step By Step tutorials on the site. Some are embedded in individual Topics and some are listed separately in this section. Some are aimed at basic students who are just starting out in this medium and some at more advanced students who know something about the basics and are keen to experiment and try new methods.
I will try to summarise the individual tutorials to aid you in your search for teaching at your own standard, but please note - everyone has different needs and what is perfect for one is probably not for another.
Many of my tutorials are Landscape and Still Life based - as this is my preferred range of subjects. There are plenty of tutors teaching animal life and portraits but very few looking at landscapes.
A single day Friday May 19th followed by a weekend from that same Friday evening, through to Sunday May 21st giving either a one day basics and a two day weekend or a full three day weekend for those who can make it from Friday morning to Sunday
Some accommodation is available for those who need to travel but the course starts 9.15am and finishes around 4-30pm, so some may be local enough to treat it as a day out. All the materials necessary will be loaned/ supplied, but if you already have artists quality materials, bring them along.
This course is intended to introduce hard pastels and pastel pencils to those who have not used them before and show the different types of paper which can be used as well as a range of techniques. The media is not as messy as soft pastels and most students can produce creditable results.
Courses are limited to 10 student maximum
